Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo state has joined Imo State University into the Go Green, Stay Clean initiative of his government, stressing the need for hands to be on deck to realize the exercise.
The programme tagged, ‘Clean-Imsu” initiative was aimed at sanitizing the school from every form of dirt being littered around, with a view to making her the cleanest university in Nigeria.
Launching the programme, Governor Ihedioha represented by the General Manager of ENTRACO, Hon Alex Emeziem stated that the programme was part of government’s ideas to make Imo State University the cleanest institution in Nigeria in line with the vision of the present rebuild administration.
He called on students and staff of the institution to cue into the mandate, assuring of government’s willingness to provide the school with every necessary equipment to make the exercise a success.
In her remark, Prof Obasi maintained that the programme was not only to clean the environment, but to change the perception of students and staff on cleanliness.
She averred that the programme was part of the school efforts to compliment with the vision of the state government to maintain a clean society.
Prof Obasi therefore reiterated the school readiness to attract a good name for the state as one of the most cleanest state institutions in the country, and appealed to staff and management of the school to join hands together.
Highlight of the programme was the handing over of trash cans to IMSU by the state government, presentation of environmental policy brief to management, launching of IMSU student’s environmental Vanguard and inauguration of IMSU environmental sanitation committee among others.
